The first-ever Emerging Markets Summit of the Telecom Industry will be taking place on the 24th January, two days ahead of the Second Telecom Finance 2007. The one-day Summit will focus on the opportunities in the Telecom sector in the emerging markets. A definite attraction for Telecom financers, the Summit will feature advices from Telecom Industry top brasses and global executives on smart money investments. The visionary keynote for the Emerging Markets Summit has been outlined by Neil Galloway, Head of European Telecom, Media and Technology Banking, ABN AMRO. Optimistic of prospects in emerging markets, Mr. Galloway had said, “Some of the highest quality and most profitable mobile operators anywhere in the world were born and raised in emerging markets.” Mr. Galloway had added that with the continuance of the present trend, “a future where the industry may be shaped by operators out of the BRIC markets or the Middle East” cannot be ruled out. According to Mr. Galloway, “National protectionism” is the only measure that can save Western operators from the onslaught of reverse colonisation. Presenting his views on the future of the Telecom Industry, the visionary man has added, “The future industry giants will be determined by those with entrepreneurial leadership irrespective of where they come from.” |
