SAP Launch Global Trade Tool For Shipping Industry

SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) has launched a global trade tool – a service-enabled transportation management software. Built on their existing transportation management software, this new functionality for mySAP® Supply Chain Management (mySAP SCM) enhances ocean shipping management and transportation planning. Addressing the global demand for an end-to-end transportation management solution, this version of mySAP SCM also addresses the scheduling, routing, regulatory compliance and customs processes to its application.

This global trade tool is apt for companies involved in exports and imports, as it helps increase control over their supply chains, and minimize coordination inefficiencies. Such tools are required as the complexities of transportation management increase, and the costs of freight become more expensive.

In collaboration with INTTRA – the largest multi-carrier e-commerce platform for global shipping – mySAP SCM has enabled shipping companies to make electronic capacity reservations and send shipping instructions, improving interaction with ocean carriers. It further helps avoid expensive delays in customs processes
